Published in 1843, Charles Dickens (181270) A Christmas Carol in Prose: Being a Ghoststory of Christmas was a runaway success and by 1849 Dickens was giving readings as a popular part of Yuletide entertainment. This CD mixes 13 Victorian revived and popular carols with 6 readings from A Christmas Carol. Carols include The First Nowell, Sussex Carol, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Once in Royal Davids City and It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. Performed by the Choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge with readings by Professor Sir Gabriel Horn.
