Museum Selection Nutcracker Drummer Biscuit Tin
Description
A charming, festive tin with salted caramel biscuits. Decorative Nutcracker dolls have been carved in Germany – especially in Sonneburg in Thuringia and the Ore Mountains – since the 15th century and were considered a talisman to protect hearth and home. Hoffmann’s tale of ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’, c.1816, strengthened the association with Christmas, and the festive timing of performances of ‘The Nutcracker’ ballet since 1892 has ensured the figures remain synonymous with Christmas cheer. Embossed tin decorated with Nutcracker dolls and filled with Englishmade biscuits with salted caramel pieces.
