Ritzenhoff & Breker The ornate concentric ornamentation of this soup plate is reminiscent of the heady, opulent motifs of Andalusian mosaic tiles. These beautiful patterned tiles reached southern Spain during the time of the Moors, and were used as both an important, yet decorative, construction material, direct from the Orient. They can still be seen decorating walls and floors of buildings today. However, unlike the colourful tiles that inspired it, this set features more subtle, velvety earth tones. As the surface ornamentation and brown and grey coloured swirls are applied using a stamping technique, there may be small differences in terms of colour intensity and/or decoration.
