Every year Anton Michelsen selected a designer to commission their famous Christmas spoon. in 1938 their choice was Ebbe Sadolin, a Danish illustrator & ceramicist. Sadolin's design, titled Snow Berries has three white enamel berries nestled between three silver leaves all framed by a gilt frame suporting a shining gilded star. The frame is supported by a doric column. the back carries Sandolin's monogram as well as Julen 1938. The 1938 was the last in a run of very clean lined spoon designs that have a distinct Art Deco feel to them. The later spoons are distinctly more clunky in feel (perhaps to appeal to children) & use of more enamel. The spoon is just over 15 cm / 6 inches long & weighs 40 grams.
