Description
Grow your own fresh lettuce on the garden as 'cut and come again' leaves or a crop of delicious, crisps heads. Romaine Lettuce 'Valmaine' remain productive throughout the season with regular cropping and successive sowings. Its leaves have a sweet flavour and fleshy texture, make them perfect for salads and sandwiches, and young leaves have no bitterness. Alternatively, leave to mature and your plants will produce conical heads with a crunchy, crisp texture.Direct sow lettuce seeds outdoors from March to August into well prepared, fertile, moist soil in sun or semi shade. Sow seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm (1/2") in drills 30cm (12") apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 30cm (12") apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Make regular sowings for a constant supply.Product specifications:Position: Sun or Semi-ShadeHeight: Up to 30cm when fully establishedSpread: Up to 25cm when fully establishedSupplied as 1x packet Lettuce 'Valmaine' (approx. 800 seeds)Harvest period: June to OctoberDelivered with growing and care instructionsImages shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
