Description
Thompson & Morgan Hydrangea ‘Pinky Winky’ is short, compact and can be trained as a flowering hedge or in large patio containers. Hydrangea paniculata are tough, hardy, weatherproof shrubs which can give big impact in borders and can last for many years. Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi-shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non-alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding in plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Thompson & Morgan Hydrangea paniculata ‘Pinky Winky’ is fast-growing, ideal for small garden and hosts 40c, (16”) panicles, made up of star-like florets, opening cream and fading to pink. Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. If necessary, Hydrangea paniculata will tolerate hard pruning of the oldest stems to a few buds from ground level. This will also encourage larger flower heads to be produced. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: Irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. Ideal For: Patio, Cottage Gardens, Wildlife Gardens, Cut Flower Gardens, Specimen Plant, Woodland Gardens Hardiness: Hardy Position In: Sun or Semi-Shade, Dappled Shade Height: Up to 150cm (59.1in) Spread: Up to 150cm (59.1in) Ease of Growing: Easy for All Ease of Aftercare: Easy for All.
