This hardy coniferous small tree has erect branches and radially arranged leaves up to 8cm long. Also known as a ‘Plum Yew’, the leaf shape resembles a yew and female trees produce plum-shaped 3cm fruit containing a single hard seed surrounded by a fleshy green cover – if fruits are desired, a male pollinator will need to be planted nearby. Plant your Cephalotaxus harringtonia 'Fastigiata' in a shady position, although trees will tolerate full sun but do not like very hot summer conditions.
