Description
Colourful wrapping paper and gift tags reproducing exuberant details of a Chinese dragon and a pagoda, each set upon decorative backgrounds of peonies. The dragon is taken from a highlycoloured, illustrative plate for ‘LÂ’Ornement polychromeÂ’, 1873, by French artist Albert Charles Auguste Racinet (182593) and is, traditionally, considered an auspicious symbol of strength and luck in Chinese art. The pagoda, symbolising sacred mountains, reproduces a wood block print from ‘The Cathay DecorationÂ’, 1927. Made exclusively for Museum Selection.
