Description
Reproductions of 3 ‘Hans SloaneÂ’ porcelain plates with botanical patterns from the Chelsea manufactory, c.1755; now in the collection of The British Museum. The first successful English porcelain factory, the Chelsea works was founded in the 1740s by Huguenot silversmith Nicholas Sprimont. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was a noted collector of Chelsea botanical porcelain. The illustrations themselves are thought to be after those of Georg Dionysius Ehret (170870) from c.1731.
