Description
The city of dreaming spires not only has an impressively diverse skyline but it also boasts truly spectacular views from the river. As one of the most famous stretches of the Thames outside London, millions have been inspired by this part of the river, including Jerome K Jerome, who set some of his world-famous ‘Three Men in a Boat’ in the area and Lewis Carroll who would take the infamous Alice on journeys down the river. This experience is a chance to soak in the glorious countryside that can be spotted from the water, as well as taking in a completely new perspective on some of the most famous sights, including the College Boat Houses, Christ Church, Folly Bridge and the water meadows. Eagle-eyed guests may spot some of the local wildlife and photographers will relish the chance to capture some incredible shots. The delicious afternoon tea is the perfect addition to this scenic cruise and provides an elegance befitting the glorious surroundings. This is a 1 ½-hour long cruise for two which departs from the famous Folly Bridge at around 3.30 pm - the perfect time for anyone who wishes to relax and enjoy the tasty treat of afternoon tea as the river laps at the side of the boat.  The route takes in the University Regatta Course, passing through a number of the most beautiful areas of Oxford as the boat moves downstream towards Iffley Lock. Here, it’s possible to see other river users rowing, punting, canoeing and possibly training for their next race. Between the beautiful countryside and the amazing architecture, there are sights to appeal to everyone on board, if they can tear their eyes away from the feast on offer in the form of afternoon tea. Provided by a local restaurant with an excellent reputation, The Folly, the tea comprises a range of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones complete with jam, clotted cream and fresh strawberries, a selection of pastries, cakes and petits fours, all washed down with tea.
