The British designer Tom Dixon has designed a spectacular floor lamp with exceptional dimensions. A real sculpture, this lamp has a collection of essential and identifiable geometric forms: cone, sphere, arc. A construction that’s simple and expressive at the same time. The finish of the shaft contrasts with the solid forms of the base and the globe-diffuser. The Opal floor lamp is made up of a large steel conical base which supports a long slender carbon fibre arm. The arm supports a large opalescent globe which gives off a vibrant light, like a supernatural star. The arm is held in position thanks to a steel counter-weight in the shape of a ball. The translucent white globe is made from an innovative polycarbonate especially developed by Tom Dixon. This polycarbonate is moulded by blowing, like glass. The result is a plastic material as precious as crystal, opalescent and semi-translucent with rainbow-coloured and brilliant reflections. The oversized globe looks like an ethereal and light bubble. Inside the globe, a next-gen LED disk ensures an optimal, diffuse and practical lighting. Thanks to its large dimensions, the Opal floor lamp can replace the use of a pendant by lighting from above.
