Description
The British Museum Smart cards reproducing the exquisite papercut collages of flowers and plants created by Mary Delany (170088), now in the collection of The British Museum. Includes a sunflower, hollyhock, rose, waterlily, iris and oak leaves. After her husband"s, Dr Delany"s, death in 1768 Mary Delany began spending her summers with the Duchess of Portland at Bulstrode in Buckinghamshire and it was while staying there that she began her remarkable series of over 1000 flower collages or paper mosaicks, as she called them that were bequeathed to The British Museum by her descendent Lady Llanover in 1895.
