PAIR OF LATE GEORGIAN BASTING SPOONS A large pair of early William IV solid silver gravy / basting spoons. The spoons are by James Payne & hallmarked for London 1831. Of good plain design with fiddle shaped handles. Each one is hallmarked: J.P, lion passant, leopard's head, date letter: q (1831) & the duty mark for King George IV. They have a griffin emblem on the thandle. The underside of the handles have good clear & crisp hallmarks. Date: 1831 Condition: Good condition. No damage, large dents or repairs. The bowls are good with little edge wear. Legible hallmarks. Very light use marks under magnification consistent with having been well looked after. One bowl has a little ding from the underside.
