Description
This is a hand thrown mug that holds almost a pint & is made from white earthenware clay. The handle is lower on the side, but we feel it gives it a good balance. It is hand thrown on the wheel then it needs to stiffen up for a day before the handle can be added. It is too soft otherwise. Once it is complete it needs a long slow drying time (otherwise the handle might detach or the mug go out of shape). Once it is dry it has a first firing, then is glazed in the turquoise & a honey glaze (this is the colour breaking through) then a second firing at 1120 degrees. This is a large mug holding around 350 mls.
