The stunning Eliot Falls is on the Old Telegraph Track on Cape York Peninsula in remote Far North Queensland. It is a must-see spot when on an expedition to the tip of Australia. Travelling along 'The Old Telegraph Track, The OTT or Tele Track as it is also known, to The Tip of Cape York, the northern most point of mainland Australia is on the bucket list for many people in a 4WD is a highlight of the adventure. There are a number of water crossings on the OTT, & you are warned that damaging your vehicle is not uncommon. Unfortunately, I did misjudge the exit from one crossing & suffered the panel bending consequences. Eliot Falls is the tallest of all the waterfalls in this part of remote Cape York Peninsula, with water cascading into a deep pool filled with crystal clear water. Finally, after what felt like an eternity on the hot, dusty drive along the rutted & corrugated track, I arrived at Eliot Falls. A wave of relief washed over me as took in the majestic cascade of water. I wasted no time in shedding my dusty layers & diving into the cool, refreshing pool below, safe in the knowledge that there are no crocodiles around. But my mission was not complete. With renewed energy & determination, I retrieved my camera & carefully positioned myself to capture the essence of Eliot Falls. My intentions were as crystal clear as the sparkling water below the falls. I wanted to capture Eliot Falls in its solitary beauty, as if being discovered for the first time. There were a few visitors to the falls that day, so I had to wait patiently to capture my images. Finally, with a satisfied smile on my face, I knew I had achieved what I had set out to do. I had captured Eliot Falls in just the way that I had imagined. This image will forever be a testament to my perseverance & willingness to push through the barriers that stood in my way. As I continued my journey towards The Tip, the northernmost point of Australia, I carried with me the memory of that exhilarating moment at Eliot Falls. It was a reminder that dreams could be realized, & passions pursued, even in the face of adversity. Decades spent toiling in a mundane day job suddenly felt worthwhile. My true calling, photography, had finally taken centre stage in my life. & as I embarked on this new chapter, I knew that nothing could stand in the way of my unwavering determination to capture the beauty of the world, one photograph at a time.
