This Erich Consemller exhibition poster is from the Museum fr Gestaltung in Berlin for a 1989 exhibition featuring the work of Bauhaus Photographer Erich Consemller. Designer: Erich Consemller Dimensions: 33 in x 23.5 in (84 cm x 60 cm) Condition: Slight fold in the middle, some surface damage, some rough edges, see photos. Erich Consemller was a German photographer & architect who studied & taught at Bauhaus art school. He worked alongside the photographer Lucia Moholy documenting life at the Bauhaus. Consemller began studying at the Bauhaus in Weimar in 1922, first taking Johannes Itten's preliminary course, as did all students. From 1923 to 1925 he studied furniture design in the carpentry workshop under Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus director. in 1925 the Bauhaus moved to Dessau & Marcel Breuer took over teaching the carpentry workshop. Consemmller studied under him until 1927, when he transferred to the newly established Building department, led by Hannes Meyer. He finished his studies March 1929 & was awarded his Bauhaus Diploma, Diploma number 4, in November 1929. What is special about exhibition & gallery posters is that they are an affordable way of getting good, unique art on the walls, as although it is not an artists original, neither is it something that has been mass reproduced. Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear & tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, & edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the charm. These posters are sent as unframed.
