Description
This bowl was designed, sculpted & finished by George. He says: I made the bowl out of solid, fine-grained mahogany. I cut out the rough shape with a power saw, & then I sculpted it using hand tools, to take it from a rough outline to a refined & finished piece. I think of it as sculpture that is also a functional bowl. The bowl has a smooth surface that at some angles appears a rich velvety brown, yet when turned towards good light can become almost iridescent. It is finished with a durable combination of flaxseed oil & beeswax. This finish seals the wood & creates a soft sheen, and, in addition, is completely food-safe. This mahogany bowl looks beautiful displayed on a table or shelf, but can also be used to hold dry foods such as chocolates, nuts, or small cookies after dinner, for example. The bowl measures 14.5 inches long, 2.65 inches wide & 1.35 inches high. We include a recommendation sheet for care & use of the bowl when we ship the package.
