An original piece of artwork. I'm Catherine an Artist based in Liverpool UK. Lino printing is similar to wood carving - a tool is used to cut away marks on a lino surface (a plate made from cork, linseed oil...) which is then printed with using special printing inks. Here I have first made a textured & coloured base by gel plate printing (monoprint) onto a handmade paper base. When dry, I have then overprinted with my linocut design. Finally to finish, I have mounted my print onto a wood board approx A4 size. The inks are professional quality Cranfield Caligo safewash. These are fast/fixed to light & rubbing. Just like an oil painting these are durable but please don't hang in a bathroom or damp room. The paper is 80g Nepalese LOKTA paper which is made from bark of the Daphne tree. It is a sustainable source still used by Nepal government today! the lightweight paper allows for all details of the paper to be printed - like using silk! The wood board is a pre made lightweight artist quality canvas board. I have painted in Farrow & Ball paint in a neutral colour before using Industrial strength 3M double tape to mount the paper. The item arrives with you wrapped in tissue. the reverse has a hanging hook, artist signature & chop - also a small note about the artist. Happy to handwrite personal gift notes.
