The half garlic baskets also known as gourds are woven produced by women who are widowees from Bulawayo, in Matebeland district of Zimbabwe These Ndebele women of have passed down the knowledge of weaving from generation to generation & use it as a main source of income which empowers them & allows them to earn a sustainable livelihood. The garlic baskets are woven using natural plant fibre such as Ilala palm & Indaza which is found in the bushes in the Matebeland region The baskets are all made by hand & are unique & one of a kind, & no two baskets are alike. We have designed this beautiful light feature using the Binga basket & attaching an assortment of beautiful coloured glass beads. The beads are first attached onto cotton thread & then securely attached to the basket. Please note you will not receive any electrical fittings or components, only the lampshade with the beads attached.
