Description
Although now commonly considered a combination of hazelnuts and chocolate, praline - as we know it - began life as whole almonds coated in caramelised sugar. When chocolate arrived in Europe from the New World, these almonds were ground into chocolate giving birth to praline. And it's a timeless combination. Charbonnel et Walker's take on this classic is fine almonds wrapped in an envelope of luxurious milk chocolate and dusted in bitter cocoa. The nuttiness, the earthiness and the bittersweet chocolate make them unfathomably moreish. Established in 1875, Charbonnel et Walker is one of Britain's first and foremost chocolate makers; indeed with their Royal Warrant, they are chocolatiers to Her Majesty The Queen. After a little cajoling from Edward VII, Mrs Walker and Madame Charbonnel's opened a shop making chocolate fit for royalty. That shop has stood on Bond Street ever since and has been frequented by the likes of Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, Wallis Simpson, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Alec Guinness, Lauren Bacall, Noel Coward and many more.£5.61 per 100.00g
