It was Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall's dream to escape the urban sprawl and find a little place in the country where he could live off the fat of the land.He found River Cottage nestling in the heart of the Dorset countryside and set about turning his dream into a reality.The River Cottage Collection follows Hugh's fortunes as he develops his smallholding into a real home farm, edging a little closer to the holy grail of self-sufficiency.Along the way he is joined at the cottage by a host of animals including a pair of Old Spot pigs, a cow called Marge and her calf, chickens who get to experience high rise accommodation, Dorset Down Sheep and three 'Spice' pigs which Hugh christens Ginger, Baby and Fat!Hugh also explores some of the local traditions and shows how sumptuous meals can be prepared from local produce.
