Description
Incredibly popular as winter gifts, Amaryllis, also known as Hippeastrum, are spectacular flowering bulbs that are a real treat to grow, giving you stunning, exotic flowers in the middle of winter! As the flower stems begin to emerge from the centre of the leaves, excitement and anticipation grow as you imagine how tall it'll get, and how many flowers too. 'Snow Queen' produces enormous white trumpet-shaped blooms that have green and cream throats. It will often produce more than one flower stem, with each one carrying up to six flowers, so you could get an incredible display! Our indoor bulb kit makes a wonderful gift, or you could just treat yourself. It's always fun to grow one of your own and give another as a present and then compete for the tallest plant with the most flowers! Presented in an attractive gift box, it contains everything you need including a pot, compost and a large bulb. All you need to do is plant it around 8 weeks before you'd like it to flower, with the top third of the bulb above the compost, always keeping it moist. Your Amaryllis will grow up to 60 cm (2 ft) tall. Features and Benefits Incredibly elegant white flowers with a hint of cream and green in the centre A wonderful gift, and so exciting to grow - and anyone can do it Start a competition between family and friends to see who can grow the biggest, with the most flowers! Bursts into flower around 8 weeks after planting, with up to 6 blooms on each stem Specifications Supplied in a gift box including a large, size 26/28 bulb, compost and pot Availability: October to December Planting time: September to January Flowering time: November to January Model Number: 160890 Care Information Planting Plant your Amaryllis with the top third of the bulb above the compost surface. Water regularly, keeping the compost moist. Grow in a bright, warm spot, ideally above 20°C (68°F). Feed regularly to encourage larger flowers, tomato food is perfect! Keep your Amaryllis for the next year! After flowering, cut the stems down to a few centimetres above the bulb, but leave the leaves in place. Continue to water and feed throughout the year until autumn, then move the plant to a dark place and stop watering, letting the leaves die off. In November, bring you Amaryllis back into the light and begin watering and feeding again. New leaves and flower stems will grow, and as the bulb has been well fed, it should flower even better than the previous year.
