Description
Onyx is a powerful ancient stone, believed to provide protection from evil. Rachel Entwistle named these earrings after Apollo, prophetic god of the Delphi Oracle, and one of the original "averters of evil". The teardrop shape of these gold charm earrings echoes onyx's cave origins - drops of water falling from stalactites, evaporating over the centuries to create a mineral-rich stone. These minimal yet striking gold charm hoop earrings can also be reversed giving you two choices in one pair of earrings. The reverse side shows a spiral pattern formation a universal and ancient symbol, rooted in nature and talking the language of mathematics. From the double helix of our DNA to our galaxy, spirals are associated with the cyclical forces of nature - with rebirth and the cycle of life. Store your jewellery pieces individually so they don't scratch, keep your chains fastened so they don't become tangled and close hoop earrings. Silver and gold vermeil jewellery will naturally tarnish and oxidise with time and wear. Storing your jewellery in a sealed plastic bag will keep out the air that causes oxidation. We advise not to swim, or shower while wearing gold vermeil jewellery, and remove rings when washing your hands. Chlorine, saltwater, shower products, perfume, hairspray, lotions and deodorant can tarnish your jewellery (especially gold vermeil) and make them look dull. Avoid sleeping in pieces as they will have increased wear and pressure. We plate sterling silver jewellery with high micron hard gold plating. Gold plating is a surface layer and will wear over time. Earrings and necklaces tend to get less wear than rings.
