Description
Extravagant mother-of-pearl pendant Fun 0DM by designer Verner Panton One of Verner Panton's most important luminaire designs is without doubt the Fun series of luminaires. A sea of genuine shell plates hangs from four chrome-plated stainless steel rings, creating a work of art that embodies pure elegance even when the light is switched off. Mother-of-pearl - literally the mother of pearls - is a popular material for making jewellery and works of art because of its special surface structure, which gives it a shimmering appearance. The effect of the interplay of mother-of-pearl and light is used by the Danish designer Verner Panton for the pendant lamp Fun. Concealed behind the semi-transparent shell discs is the lamp, whose light creates fascinating effects when it hits the shimmering mother-of-pearl leaves. But it is not only with its lighting effect that the pendant Fun captivates the observer. As soon as a light breeze of wind brushes against the numerous shell plates, a pleasant sound is created, which resembles that of a wind chime. The Fun pendant lamp is connected to the chrome-plated canopy with a 400 cm long, black textile cable and offers a wide range of applications thanks to its visual and, of course, acoustic advantages. It can enhance the private living space as well as the rooms of a design hotel. The Dane Verner Panton is considered one of the most renowned architects and designers of the last century. He was one of the first to combine interior design with Pop Art and made an international name for himself with his extraordinary furniture and lighting designs.
