Ritzenhoff & Breker The ornate concentric patterns of this mug are reminiscent of the heady, opulent motifs of Andalusian mosaic tiles. These beautiful patterned tiles reached southern Spain during the time of the Moors, and were used as an important, yet decorative, construction material, direct from the Orient. In fact, they can still be seen decorating the walls and floors of buildings today. However, unlike the colourful tiles that inspired it, this mug features more subtle, velvety earth tones. As the ornate patterns and brown and grey coloured swirls are applied using a stamping technique, there may be small differences in terms of colour intensity and/or details, meaning that no 2 pieces of crockery will be exactly the same. This makes each mug somewhat unique, just like the hand-made antique clay tiles that inspired it.
