Six weeks / 4500 meters of headphone cord / 5 pieces We called upon the artistry of Swedish fashion designer Sandra Backlund to help us breathe life into the leftover cords. Known for her three-dimensional knitwear creations and unorthodox material choices we knew she would be the ideal creator to take on a foreign subject matter like Plattans textile cords. Sandra accepted the challenge spending six weeks transforming 4500 meters of Plattan cord textiles into five architectural pieces of wearable art. Plattan The Story. "Plattan" is Swedish for "the slab." Its also a nickname for Sergels torg a sunken pedestrian square located at the heart of Stockholm. The architecture may have been controversial at first but today its just iconic. Its a popular meet up spot for teens dealers and demonstrators. And up until 2002 it was home to a famous one-woman-orchestra. But the best part is its characteristic black and white tiles and the fact that it connects you to some of the best cultural sites in the city.
