This reproduction features Pierre Bonnard's 1912 drawing 'Nu au tub' and is framed in a contemporary black box frame, ready to wall hang. Pierre Bonnard, born 3 October 1867 and died 23 January 1947, was a French painter, illustrator and printmaker, known especially for the stylised decorative qualities of his paintings and his bold use of colour. He was a founding member of the Post-Impressionist group of avant-garde painters Les Nabis, and his early work was strongly influenced by the work of Paul Gauguin, and the prints of Hokusai and other Japanese artists. As a leading figure in the transition from impressionism to modernism, the subjects of Bonnard's pictures are simple, but the means by which he rendered such familiar themes as a table laden with fruit or a sun-drenched landscape show that he was one of the most subtle masters of his day. Like the Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne, Bonnard was particularly fascinated with tricks of perspective. Galerie Maeght is a gallery of modern art in Paris. The gallery was opened in 1946 by renowned art dealer and collector Aimé Maeght. Today, Galerie Maeght is considered as one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century modern art.
