Silver disc pendant inscribed "Let truth be your light" on the front and a symbol of Dharma on the back. Ananda, a follower of the Buddha, recorded much of his life and teachings including this quotation: "Ananda, let yourself be your light and your refuge; seek no other refuge. Let the Dharma be your light and your refuge; seek no other refuge." The Dharma is a complex idea, but may be said to represent the natural law which orders the universe, the sum of the teachings of the Buddha, or "truth".
