About the Artist
Carl Ellis was born in Liverpool in 1964. On graduating from Staffordshire University in 1987, he went on to become an apprentice and then a fully qualified ceramic artist, although this was not where his real talent was to manifest itself.
After studying at the Royal College of Art and gaining his degree in 1994, Carl started work as an independent freelance illustrator before finally settling on what was always his ambition - to be a full-time artist specialising in fish pastels and watercolours.
Bold, original, and never afraid to experiment, Carl has always worked hard to find new techniques and mediums to help him capture his subjects. Winner of several awards for his art, Carl Ellis has been a member of The Society of Wildlife Artists since 2001.
