Thompson & Morgan Weigela florida 'Moulin Rouge' will add a splash of colour to borders and containers with its lovely gold and green variegated foliage and red flowers that bloom throughout spring. Weigela is reliable and easy to grow with a pleasing upright habit. It makes an attractive specimen plant for a mixed border and as its attractive to pollinating insects, a useful addition to wildlife gardens with its nectar rich blooms. Grow Thompson & Morgan Weigela florida 'Moulin Rouge' in any well drained soil in sunny or semi shaded positions. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting. Make sure to plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfil the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. Throughout the growing season, water regularly until the young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost at the base of the plant. Little pruning is required, after flowering cut stems back to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
