Description
This elegant evergreen climber bears creamy star-shaped flowers that mature to a soft shade of yellow throughout the summer. The glossy, dark green foliage of star jasmine forms the perfect backdrop for its dramatic blooms which perfume the air with an irresistible, sweet fragrance. Trachelospermum ‘Star of Toscana’ makes a stunning addition to a scented patio garden or grown against a sheltered wall for a truly glamorous display. Grow star jasmine plants in frost-free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When they are well gown, plant Trachelospermum jasminoides in fertile, well-drained soil in sun or semi-shade. Choose a sheltered position that is protected from cold winter winds. In particularly cold areas, Trachelospermum jasminoides is best grown in patio containers of loam compost, such as John Innes No.2. that can be moved to a protected position over winter. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate support such as trellis, wires or a free standing climbing frame. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. After flowering, reduce the stems to restrict them to the available space. Caution: The milky sap of Trachelospermum is an irritant to skin and eyes.
