Sempervivum form dense rosettes of foliage, which meld together to create a living carpet of colour. Each summer, mature rosettes may produce panicles of star-shaped flowers. Although individual rosettes die after flowering, they are swiftly replaced by small offsets, which quickly fill any gaps. These hardy perennials are extremely drought-tolerant once established – perfect for planting in wall crevices, rockeries and alpine troughs and a great house plant for a windowsill indoors.
