Description
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Variegatum' is a remarkable evergreen shrub featuring wavy, grey-green foliage outlined with a broad cream margin, imparting a light and airy appearance uncommon among evergreens. Its compact structure reveals contrasting dark grey stems beneath the leaves. While tiny red-brown flowers emerge in late spring, they are inconspicuous amidst the foliage. With a naturally bushy and oval shape, this variety, also known as Kohuhu, serves as an elegant focal point in sheltered borders. Its neat growth allows for formal shaping if desired, and in mild coastal regions, it functions as a salt-tolerant shrub, ideal for hedging or windbreaks. 'Variegatum' reaches a height of 4m (13') with a spread of 2m (6'5").
