Dodecatheon meadia, also known as the Shooting Star, produces lots of purple cyclamen-like flowers amongst swathe of deep-green stems and leaves, in the spring. It is a flowering plant that prefers shaded, cool areas such as under trees or in a sheltered area of the garden.Plant Shooting Star in moist but well drained, humus rich soil. Grow in partial shade or full sun for part of the day. Feed and water well until established and protect from slugs and snails when leaves are tender.
