Dianthus Summer Sundae is a summer flowering hardy perennial that will produce an abundance of sweet scented blooms in its first year. A great choice for a cutting garden. Easy to sow and grow – ideal for cottage garden borders, bed and containers. The petals can be used to decorate cakes and flavour soups, salads and sauces.Sow February to April. Germinate at 18-20C (64-68F) on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Do not cover the seed. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 7-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots.
