From April to May, red-brown flowers adorn this shrub, standing out against its glossy green foliage that is flecked with gold followed by bright red berries in autumn. Positively thriving in shade, Thompson & Morgan Spotted Laurel ‘Crotonifolia’ will tolerate difficult, dry soils and even coastal conditions where many plants would fail. Perfect for brightening difficult, shaded areas of the garden, using as screens and hedging or as a superb evergreen specimen shrub. Extremely resilient, Thompson & Morgan Spotted Laurel ‘Crotonifolia’ will thrive in any soil except for those that are prone to waterlogging. Aucuba will cope in a sunny position, but prefers dappled or full shade. Thompson & Morgan Aucuba ‘Crotonifolia’ requires very little maintenance, except for a light trim in early spring to maintain shape. However, they will respond well to heavy pruning in spring if renovation is required.
