Description
Allium Medusa Hair produces grey-green foliage that forms a rounded clump that creates useful ground cover, perfect when planting in dense groups. This variety produces slender snaking foliage with a twist to the tip of each leaf. In the early summer these alliums produce globes like lollipops of flower heads that are perched upon slender upright stems. These flower buds have a nodding like appearance that straighten as they open, bringing a striking vertical look of purple blooms. This variety is perfect for planting in gravel gardens, containers, or the front of sunny garden borders. Height: 60cm (24”). Spread: 10cm (4”).Alliums thrive in light sandy, well-drained soil in full sun. Avoid planting in cold wet soils as the bulbs are prone to rot in these conditions. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4”) and a distance of 10cm (4”) apart. A slow-release fertilizer can be added to poor soils at the time of planting to improve fertility. When growing alliums, plant them where the leaves of other plants will cover the base of their stems. This will hide the old foliage which dies back before flowering begins.Alliums require little maintenance. Leave stems of faded allium flowers intact to enjoy their spectacular seed heads in autumn. Divide overcrowded clumps of alliums after flowering. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.Product Specifications:Position in: Full SunHeight: Up to 60cm (24”)Spread: Up to 10cm (4”)Supplied as 1x Allium Medusa’s Hair 7cm Potted Plant.Delivered with growing and care instructionsImages shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
