- Chiyogami is a hand silk screened paper from Japan. It's fibres are longer than many craft papers making it a super flexible material. - Many of the designs come from traditional Kimono motifs. - The papers translucent quality makes it ideal for lampshades, lamps & lanterns. As light passes through it the beautiful colours glow. - Every sheet of Chiyogami is hand printed so each colour is applied separately. This artisan technique is competing in the modern world with machine production however it holds it's own as far as the finished product is concerned. The paper quality is much finer, the colours more vibrant & fade resistant. - I make the shades myself in my small studio in Yorkshire.
