Background The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is one of the most iconic and desired watches in the world. Introduced in 1963 and named after the Daytona International Speedway in Florida, the Chronograph was designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers. Worn by race and watch luminaries as Paul Newman and Sir Malcolm Campbell, the Daytona watch is highly collectable, self-winding chronograph and equipped with a tachometric scale for measuring speed and precise timing to one eighth of a second. On 26th October 2017, Paul Newman’s Daytona watch was sold on auction for $17.8m, the watch is considered to be the most iconic wristwatch of the 20th century. A gift from his wife, actress Joanne Woodward, Paul Newman’s Daytona has long been considered the Holy Grail among watch collectors. The Daytona Newman Oro is designed with a bespoke ‘vintage styled’ dial with gold detailing. The model has an automatic chronograph movement, the fixed bezel is finished in black and gold TB-DLC coating and the watch is coated in 18ct gold with complete TBlack’s iconic MAB II finish.
