Susan Caplan Vintage Chanel Handbag Medallion Brooch
This gold-plated brooch, features the iconic quilted Chanel 2.55 flap handbag suspended by a chain from a medallion showcasing the iconic CC logo and CHANEL 31 RUE CAMBON PARIS script. It closes with a safety-catch pin. It is stamped with Chanel's authenticity mark and dated 94.
Chanel's quilting detail was inspired by the puffy jackets worn by the horse breeders at her lover Captain Arthur Edward "Boy" Capel's stables. It was first seen on her 2.55 handbag which was created in February 1955 and the quilted detail so often seen on her Chanel jewellery was introduced in the 80`s under the helm of Victoire De Castellane. She started her career as an assistant to Karl Lagerfeld.
