Description
This pattern is adapted from a panel of woven Chinese hand-painted silk. Silk textiles decorated by painting were imported to the West from China during the 18th and 19th centuries. The designs and colours were thought to appeal to Westerners, but this type of textile was not used by the Chinese themselves. Springtime Posey is a modern floral influenced by Chinoiserie. Its fresh yellow ground has a subtle spot pattern and is scattered with delicate floral sprigs in gentle pink and berry tones. A smaller scale floral coordinate is used on the reverse.
