Description
This remarkable coffee originates from a Nicaraguan farm owned by the Mierisch family. What makes it so intriguing is not only its enchanting flavour, but also the use of an arabica hybrid called Ethiosar — an Ethiopian variety adapted to the conditions of Nicaragua. The coffee has undergone fermentation (it's been processed with the help of the increasingly popular anaerobic method, i.e. without oxygen) and is therefore filled with a variety of flavours, the most pronounced of which are ripe pears, as well as sweet and sour cherries. Once you're finished enjoying this gourmet drink, a pleasant aftertaste of red wine will continue to linger on your palate for some time. The 119-hectare Limoncillo coffee farm is one of the 12 farms owned by the Mierisch family operating in Nicaragua and Honduras. The story of how this family came to put down its roots in South America certainly deserves to be told: Bruno Mierisch Boettiger, a German geologist, was hired to assist the Nicaraguan government in the construction of their National Railroad in the late 1800s. Upon completion of Bruno's work, the Nicaraguan government found themselves unable to pay him, or his companions, in full. To compensate them for their labour, these German immigrants were offered some land in the high mountains of Matagalpa. Bruno, along with a number of his German colleagues, chose to stay in Nicaragua and take part in the burgeoning coffee revolution that was taking place there. Bruno’s legacy continues to live on to this day under the guidance of his great-great-grandchildren. The supply of this coffee is extremely low, so it belongs to the Limited Edition line.Due to its exceptional quality and taste, this coffee is marked as Specialty. According to the SCA grading system, it scores 87.5 points out of 100.COUNTRY: Nicaragua REGION: MatagalpaFARM: LimoncilloALTITUDE: 1110 mVARIETY: EthiosarPROCESS: Natural anaerobicROAST LEVEL: MediumTASTE PALETTE: Pear, Cherry, Red wineRecommended brewing methods: all brewing methods, including espresso. Ingredients: roasted coffee beans.Storage conditions: keep sealed in a dark, dry and cool place.
