Description
Three authentic utility vehicle models in British Rail liveries. Commer Q25: a 25cwt van from c.1949, often used by BR for parcel services. The model is presented in allover Crimson, likely to have been a suburban service vehicle; after 1957, British Rail introduced a Lined Maroon livery seen across the company. Morris Van: the Morris 1000 van was produced c.1953–73, presented in allover crimson with the Lion and Wheel emblem designed by Abram Game, more usually seen on steam locomotives and diesels, c.1949–64. Land Rover Series II: introduced in 1958 and manufactured until 1961, the model is presented in British Railways’ Crimson Lake and Cream livery – soon nicknamed ‘Blood & Custard’ – seen from 1948. Registered 2659 DN, the lettering along the side of the model indicates it was assigned to the Chief Civil Engineer York.
