Description
The Reebok Pump Omni Zone II “Dee Brown” is the black based colorway of the retro basketball shoe worn by former Boston Celtics guard Dee Brown during the ‘91 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Brown cemented the Pump Omni Zone II’s legacy when he famously pumped up his sneakers prior to taking flight for a dunk during the aforementioned slam dunk contest. The move, planned or not, caught on with virtually every athlete, young and old, and even leaked into the pop culture world when actors and celebrities would mimic Brown’s pumping up spot while wearing shoes from Reebok’s Pump collection. As for the design of the shoe, the upper is constructed from soft black tumbled leather. Tonal mesh appears on the mid-panel beneath the white zig-zag overlay. “Reebok” and “The Pump” detailing are embroidered in white and orange text, respectively, on the lateral heel overlay. Decidedly old school white-and-orange “Hexalite” branding is stitched onto the back of the shoe for a ‘90s vibe. An orange basketball pump button is situated on the top of the tongue signifying Reebok’s Pump technology, an innovative design feature that allows the wearer to customize the fit of the shoe via inflatable chambers fitted within the shoe.
