In this way, the fabric doesnt soak up water and stays lightweight and breathable. The water-repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior: it doesnt use fluorinated compounds which have a harmful impact on the fauna and flora. Waterproofing of the component of this jacket: The waterproofing of a fabric by a coating or a membrane is measured in Schmerbers or H20 mm (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket is designed with a coated waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard): this component withstands 5000 mm H20 (Schmerber) before washing (i.e. the pressure exerted by a 5-metre water column). Durable performance of your jacket: To maintain a durable water-repellent fabric, we recommend reactivating it regularly. You can do this every three washes (its important to rinse abundantly) or after a dozen uses in the rain. You can easily reactivate the water repellent property by warming the fabric: - in a tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic programme) - with a hair dryer at a distance of 20 cm by going back and forth twice - or two passes with an iron on the delicate setting without the steam function. Fabric breathability: The fabric of this jacket is breathable: RET = 12.Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.RET 6: very breathable fabric RET 12: breathable fabric RET 20: little or no breathability Choose your waterproof jacket according to your sports effort : This jacket is designed for hiking for 2 hours at a maximum pace of 5 km/h, with no elevation gain. During sports activity, the extent to which we perspire depends on the intensity or the duration of the physical effort If the breathability of the fabric is not adapted to your type of physical activity, the perspiration vapour condenses inside the jacket You will feel damp inside this is not rain coming through but perspiration vapour condensing Choose a waterproof jacket according to your level of physical activity.
