Hornsea Concept is a really groovy modenist geometric design of stepped / ridged concentric circles with a smooth matt outer & a high gloss inside. This set will look great in any modernist or contemporary setting. The colour is a light cream. See the photo of the plate against white printing paper to get the best idea of colour as screen monitors vary. This listing is for a set of 2 or 3 salad plates 22 cms (8.75) diameter. The 'Concept' series was designed by Martin Hunt in 1977 of the Queensbury Hunt design practice. The smooth unglazed surface was created by 'vibrating polishing' (vibrating the piece in a container loaded with ceramic pellets). The insides & the centre of the concentric circle design is more highly glazed. The serving ware is decorated with a swan handle so is easily confused with Swan Lake which is very similar but with the high glaze on the outside & the matt glaze inside. Concept was produced until 1991. The pottery colour is cream (see the photograph showing it against standard white printer paper.)
