The equatorial frog, whose scientific name is Dendrobates auratus, lives at ground level in tropical rainforests, in an area from southern Nicaragua to northern Brazil. Unlike other amphibian species that opt for camouflage, it is very colourful. This allows it to be easily identified by predators who, knowing its dangerousness and its unpleasant taste, will turn away from it.
