Perhaps van Gogh’s most famous work, The wall tapestry Starry Night (or De sterrennacht in the original Dutch) is one of the key Impressionist works and well known all around the world. It represents the sky as seen through the window of van Gogh’s room at the sanitarium at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in the South of France. Art historians and astronomers tell us that the positions of the stars and planets as depicted here represent the night of June 19th, 1889 at approximately 4 a.m. Post-Impressionist Design.
