Double Metal Side Table, Log Holder, Plant Stand Wooden - Steel Modern Contemporary Industrial Style Living Room Bedroom Side Table indoor How Its Made We love these plant Side tables in the OakandSteel household, they are incredibly practical & can be used in more than 1 setting, these evolved from the very popular plant stand. I make this stand using chunky square steel welded & then grinded down to eliminate any sharp edges. The stands are then coated using undercoat & top coat industrial black spray paint for a durable finish. All the tables come with either softwood Timber or Oak The side table comes in a Dark Oak, Oak or Charred effect. We now offer the tops in either Whitewood timber or American Oak. All tops can be finished in either Oak, Dark Oak or Charred Effect. Options Timber/Oak - Whitewood timber finished in Oak stain. Timber/Dark Oak - Whitewood timber finished in Dark Oak. Timber/Charred - Whitewood timber finished in a burnt/charred effect. Oak/Oak - American Oak finished in Oak stain. Oak/Dark Oak - American Oak finished in Dark Oak. Oak/Charred - American Oak finished in a burnt/charred effect. SOFTWOOD VS HARDWOOD The softwood tops are in general a softer & less dense wood, the softwood I use is carefully chosen to ensure every top has a lovely distinctive grain running through it, & this is brought out further by a light sanding & a high quality stain which seals the wood. The Oak hardwood is by definition a harder more hard-wearing wood carefully chosen for its distinctive grain, these Oak tops start as a rough sawn piece & sanded down to a beautiful smooth finish. Oak tops can vary a lot in appearance depending on which piece of Oak is used. If you need any more help then let me know & I'd be happy to help. Both types of wood can be finished in either, -Oak Stain which brings out the grain nicely & leaves the wood in a more natural colour. -Jacobean Dark Oak stain which adds a lovely dark colour whilst still bringing out the grain adding a rustic feel to the wood. -Charred effect is where I blowtorch the wood to give it a very dark burnt appearance. I burn the wood just enough to still keep the grain visible. Charring is a great process for finishing wood as it acts as a natural seal. Sustainability OakandSteel feel very strongly about the environment & helping the current climate crisis.
