Since 2009 the Nukeproof Mega has been on a journey of constant development. From iteration to iteration, small incremental improvements gradually add up to become today’s thoroughbred Enduro race bike. Bike design and technology move fast to keep up with the evolving demands of our customers and racers. If you don’t keep up, then you get left behind. The Megawatt is the latest iteration - with a motor. Nukeproof has had an electric mountain bike missing from its range for a while. After much searching for a motor/battery brand that could offer leading-edge technology to help create competitive products whilst having the infrastructure in place to support customers during ownership. Now is the time to introduce the Nukeproof Megawatt. The Megawatt has been designed and developed alongside the latest Mega and it has the same incredible descending characteristics that have given the mega 4 Enduro World Series titles and combined this with Shimano Steps EP8 motor technology. The Megawatt has the same race-proven geometry but in a mixed wheel size platform. The 29" wheel up front gives you maximum grip and rolling efficiency whilst the 27.5" at the back allows you to run shorter chainstays to ensure nimble handling and maximum manoeuvrability. The rear chainstays have a 3D moulded chainguard which keeps the frame protected. The Megawatt has Nukeproof's "saddle offset" philosophy. This means steeper seat angles as the sizes increase to maximise comfort and efficiency. The rear shock has been custom-tuned on all models to ensure that the Megawatt is supple whilst being progressive and supportive through the rest of the travel. The Anti Squat is optimised to offer optimal performance on the descents and return up the hill more efficiently. There is also an increased SAG range (30-35%) to allow you to tune the characteristics of the bike to your preferences. The Megawatt was designed to optimise the performance of the motor and battery. It has been crafted with hydroformed 6061 aluminium and shares some of the characteristics from the Mega but also some notable differences. The bottom bracket shell is a new one-piece cast that has been engineered to house the Shimano Steps EP8 motor. The downtube has also been designed to give maximum strength and stiffness whilst still giving easy access to the battery for charging. The Megawatt Comp uses a 504wH battery and fits with a secure and easy to flip mount system.
